French fries or finger chips recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. French fries is prepared using raw potato and salt. Preparing crispy french fries or finger chips is very easy to prepare and is very tasty. French fries is a kids friendly.

My son loves french fries and potato chips. And I keep preparing crispy french fries and potato chips at home in small batches. I prepare these french fries, sun dried potato chips and regular potato chips often. I also prepare banana chips for him. He enjoys all types of home made chips.

I have served this french fries along with tomato sauce. Instead you can sprinkle little salt and red chili powder and then serve. Or a red masala like raw jackfruit chips recipe, which I have posted on this website.

French fries recipe

Preparation time: 30 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 big fresh potatoes
  2. 2 tsp salt (or as per your taste)

Instructions for making french fries:

  1. Take fresh starch less potatoes or alugadde. Kindly look at the image.fresh starch less potato for french fries or finger chips
  2. Peel the potatoes.peeling potato for french fries or finger chips
  3. After peeling immerse them in the water to avoid discoloration. I just rinsed them under running water as I used only two potatoes.rinsing potatoes for french fries or finger chips
  4. Next chop the potatoes in to even sized sticks. If you feel the potatoes are not fresh, soak them in the water for 15 minutes - 2 hours.slicing potatoes for french fries or finger chips
  5. Meanwhile boil water along with some salt.sliced potatoes for french fries or finger chips
  6. When the water starts boiling, add in chopped potato into the boiling water and cook for 2 minutes.rinse potatoes for french fries or finger chips
  7. Once done, switch off the stove and drain the water completely.drain the water for french fries or finger chips
  8. Next spread them on a clean cotton cloth and remove the excess water. This takes around 15 minutes.drying potato slices for french fries or finger chips
  9. Now it is ready to fry. But for better result, transfer it into a zip lock cover and freeze it for 20 minutes. If you want you can keep it in the freezer for few days and fry whenever required.freezing potato sticks for french fries or finger chips
  10. Now heat the oil in a deep frying pan and drop the freezed potato sticks in to the hot oil. Please note, the oil should be very hot.frying potato for french fries or finger chips
  11. When the bubbles reduces, reduce the flame and fry them under low flame for a while.fried potato slices for french fries or finger chips
  12. Fry until slight brown and remove them using a deep frying spatula. Serve it with tomato sauce. Or sprinkle little salt and red chili powder and then serve it along with tea.masala powder for french fries or finger chips
