Potato raita or Aloogadde mosaru bajji can be served as a side dish for rice or ricebath. Or you can serve a bowl of potato salad along with lunch or dinner. This salad is prepared using potato, curd and spices. Use of raw asafoetida enhances the taste of potato salad. Learn how to make simple and very tasty potato salad or aloo-mosaru-bajji. Potato raita

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 potato
  2. 1 tsp chopped ginger
  3. 1 tsp chopped green chili
  4. A big pinch of asafoetida
  5. 2 tsp chopped coriander leaves (optional)
  6. Salt as per your taste
  7. 1 cup curd or yoghurt

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1 tsp oil
  2. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  3. 1 red chili (I used majjige or sandige menasu)

Instructions for making Potato raita or Aloo mosaru bajji:

  1. Wash and cut the potatoes into 4 pieces. Cook the potatoes in a pressure cooker by adding sufficient water. Once they are cooked, peel and mash them. mashed potato for alugadde mosaru bajji
  2. Now add in chopped ginger, chopped green chili, chopped coriander leaves, salt and asafoetida.ginger and green chili for alugadde mosaru bajji
  3. Add in curd and mix well. Temper it with oil, mustard seeds and red chili. My mother says tempering also is optional.tempering alugadde mosaru bajji
