Potato onion sambar or alugadde eerulli huli recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Potato onion sambar is prepared using potato, onion, coconut and few other spices. You can serve this potato onion sambar either with rice or with idlis. Click here to learn how to make soft idlis using idli rava.
I had mentioned about different types of "Karnataka style sambar recipes for idli" in my Bangalore style idli sambar and Udupi-Mangalore style idli sambar post. In Mangalore and malnad region of Karnataka, this is the tiffin sambar or sambar for idli. Like any other sambar recipe, even potato-onion sambar recipe varies from region to region and family to family. Variations like adding garlic to the tempering, adding toor dal, adding tomato, adding fenugreek seeds while roasting etc., But this sambar recipe tastes good and this is how sambar is prepared for idlis in my native (malnad region).
If you are looking for more gravy recipes then do check my beetroot sambar, upsaaru, dill leaves rasam, massoppu, yellow cucumber sambar, tomato rasam, shunti thambuli, menthe huli and okra sambar recipes.
I have made a video on this recipe with Kannada narration, which I have embedded it below. Kindly have a look.
