Cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose is a very tasty breakfast recipe. Southekai sweet dose is a sweet and soft dosa recipe. Cucumber sweet dosa is prepared using rice, cucumber, jaggery and coconut.

You can serve this cucumber sweet dose with ghee or coconut chutney. These dosas will be soft. You need to prepare these dosas on medium flame. If the batter is not fermented well and the dosas are not turning soft, then add little extra water and make dosas.

Preparation time: 5 hrs
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 3

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup raw rice (I use dosa rice)
  2. 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds or menthe
  3. 1/2 cup beaten rice or avalakki
  4. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  5. 1 cup or 1 medium sized cucumber
  6. 1/2 cup powdered jaggery (adjust as per your taste)
  7. Salt as per your taste
  8. 4 tsp refined oil or ghee.

Instructions for making cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose:

  1. Take rice and fenugreek seeds in a container. Rinse and soak it for 4 - 5 hours.rice and fenugreek seeds for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  2. Rinse and soak beaten rice for 15 minutes.beaten rice for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  3. After soaking drain the water. And in a mixie jar take soaked rice, chopped cucumber, grated coconut and soaked beaten rice. I have taken only half part of all the ingredients. Grind it into a fine batter by adding required water.batter for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  4. Transfer it into a container.batter for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  5. Now in the next batch take remaining half part of all the ingredients. And grind it into a fine batter by adding required water.batter for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  6. Transfer the second batch of batter also into the same container and give a quick mix.batter for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  7. Add in powdered jaggery and mix it well again. The batter shall have thick dosa batter consistency. Close the lid and keep it for fermentation. Fermentation time might vary between 8 - 12 hours depending on the climate.batter for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  8. After fermentation add in required salt and mix it well again.salt for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  9. Now heat a cast iron pan (well seasoned) or non-stick pan. Keep the stove at medium flame. Pour a laddle full of batter and prepare dose by spreading the batter slightly.cast iron pan for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
  10. Close the lid. After 5 seconds drizzle 1 or 2 tsp of oil or ghee. Reduce the flame and allow it to cook on low flame for few seconds. Take out the dosa and serve it with ghee and chutney.oil or ghee for cucumber sweet dosa or southekayi sihi dose
