Rave parota or rava paratha recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Rava paratha or suji ka paratha are prepared by stuffing rava. This stuffed rava paratha or sooji ka paratha is very easy to prepare and is very tasty. Rava or semolina is cooked in milk and water and then it is stuffed to get these tasty rave parota.

Compared to all other stuffed parathas, making rava parathas is easy. Especially the stuffing and rolling part. Also you will get soft and puffed parathas easily. These rava parathas are little sweet in taste and goes well with any type of curry. You can also serve these parathas with ghee+sugar. I learnt this recipe from one old Kannada magazine and very happy to share with you all.

rava paratha or rave parota recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 8 no

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1.5 cup wheat flour (for 8 - 10 big chapathis)
  2. 4 tsp cooking oil
  3. Salt as per your taste

Ingredients for stuffing: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup rava (upma rava)
  2. 1/2 cup milk
  3. 1/2 cup water
  4. 1 tsp ghee
  5. 2 tsp sugar (adjust as per your taste)

Instructions for making rave parota or rava paratha:

  1. Make a smooth and soft dough (chapathi dough) using wheat flour, required water and 4 tsp cooking oil. Cover it and keep it aside. soft dough for rave parota or rava paratha
  2. Now let us prepare stuffing for rava paratha or rave parota. In a container take milk, water and sugar.milk and water for rave parota or rava paratha
  3. Keep it on the stove top and bring it to boil.boiling milk and water for rave parota or rava paratha
  4. Add in 1/2 cup of rava gradually and stir continuously. When it reaches paste consistency, switch off the stove. It will become hard once it is cool.cooked rava for rave parota or rava paratha
  5. Add in a tsp of ghee, give a quick mix and wait until cool.ghee for rave parota or rava paratha
  6. Once it is cool, knead it well and make lemon sized rava balls and keep it ready. The rava balls should be soft. If not add little milk and make it soft.rava balls for rave parota or rava paratha
  7. Now let us proceed with making of paratha or parota. Apply wheat flour on your fingers, take a big lemon sized dough and bring it to a bowl shape using fingers. Place a small lemon sized stuffing or rava ball inside.stuffing rava balls for rave parota or rava paratha
  8. Carefully bring the sides together and stuff the rava ball inside. Press it gently to flatten it. Dust enough wheat flour and roll it gently using a rolling pin to make a rava paratha or parota.rolled rave parota or rava paratha
  9. Take a griddle or non stick pan and heat it. Once it becomes medium hot, place the rolled paratha over the pan.cooking rave parota or rava paratha
  10. Cook on both sides. If you wish you can apply ghee or cooking oil while cooking. Serve it hot with curry or sugar and ghee.cooking rave parota or rava paratha
