In Karnataka it is popular by name uppittu or upuma and in Mangalore region it is popular by name sajjige uppittu. Rava is called as rave in kannada language. In Karnataka uppittu or upma is prepared using either fine rava or coarse rava or rice rava or vermicelli or rice. You can find vermicelli upma or shavige uppittu, Godi kadi uppittu or broken wheat upma, akki uppittu or rice upma and Navane uppittu or foxtail millet upma recipes on this website. Mixed vegetable upma is also very popular in Karnataka. I will post that recipe soon. Even though rava uppittu or rava upuma is extremely popular, there are people who loves this so much and there are some people who hates it as well. Anyway I like it very much. Since its very nutritious, if you like it or not dont forget to include in your diet. You can also try rave rotti or sajjige rotti.
This rave uppittu or rava upuma is served along with rava kesari bath in hotels and during some special events to make the breakfast rich.
