Rave unde or rava ladoo or sooji laddu recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Rave unde or suji laddu is prepared using semolina, sugar, dessicated coconut and little ghee. This rava laddu or ladoo is a very easy and laddu or unde recipe because it is prepared using sugar powder. Since no sugar syrup is involved in this rava ladoo recipe it is hassle free and anyone can prepare easily. There another method, which calls for sugar syrup. I will share that also soon.

I love rava laddu or rave unde. I am not a big fan of sweets but some sweets like carrot halwa, mysore pak and rava laddu are my favorites. Have a look on my pineapple payasa and carrot-badam payasa or kheer recipes as the festival season is around.

Rave unde or rava ladoo recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 16 no

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup medium rava or fine rava (semolina)
  2. 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut or dessicated coconut (depending on shelf life)
  3. 3/4 cup sugar
  4. 2 tbsp ghee
  5. 1/4 cup boiled milk
  6. 8 - 10 cashews broken
  7. 1 tbsp raisins
  8. A big pinch of cardamom

Instructions for making rave unde or rava ladoo:

  1. Make a fine powder of sugar using mixer grinder and keep it aside.sugar for rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
  2. Heat the ghee in a frying pan. Roast the broken cashews and raisins until raisins are puffed up. Take them out and set it aside.cashews and raisins for rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
  3. Now to the same frying pan add in rava or semolina and fry until slightly brown under medium flame. This took around 7 - 8 minutes for me.rava or semolina for rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
  4. When the rava is done, add in coconut and fry for 2 more minutes.coconut for rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
  5. Now transfer fried rava, coconut, roasted cashews and raisins and powdered sugar into a wide plate or bowl.roasted ingredients for rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
  6. Mix well all the ingredients using hands.mixing ingredients for rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
  7. Now sprinkle the milk for a small portion and start making laddus.milk for rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
  8. You have to sprinkle little milk to a small portion and make 2 - 3 laddus. Again sprinkle little milk to next small portion and make 2 - 3 laddus. You can add required milk to make the laddus.mixing ingredients for rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
  9. Like this finish making all the laddus. These laddus will taste better after 1 - 2 hours of making. Serve and enjoy.rave unde or rava laddu or suji ladoo
