Besan ladoo or besan laddu or besan unde recipe explained with step by step pictures. Besan ladoo or besan unde is prepared using gram flour, sugar and ghee. Besan ladoo or besan unde is a very easy ladoo or unde recipe. Like my easy rave unde or rava laddu, shenga unde or peanut laddu and fried gram laddu or hurigadale unde in besan ladoo also no sugar or jaggery syrup involved.

Besan ladoo or besan unde or besan undi is a very popular dessert in North Karnataka. Besan ladoo or besan unde is prepared on most of the festivals and on special occasions. I have posted many sweets recipes on this website and out of which carrot halwa, rava laddu or rave unde, badam burfi and athrasa or kajjaya are my favorites.

Besan ladoo or besan unde recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 12 no

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup besan or gram flour or kadle hittu
  2. 1/2 cup sugar
  3. 1/4 cup ghee (I used less than this)
  4. 7 - 8 cashews
  5. 2 cardamom

Instructions for making besan ladoo or besan unde:

  1. Break the cashews into 4 pieces, roast and keep it aside.
  2. Take sugar and cardamom in a mixie jar. Grind it into a fine powder and keep it aside.sugar and cardamom for besan ladoo or besan unde
  3. In a thick bottomed pan start dry roasting the besan or gram flour under medium flame.gram flour for besan ladoo or besan unde
  4. Dry roast until you get nice aroma or until the gram flour turns to light brown in color. This will take around 8 - 10 minutes.dry roast the gram flour for besan ladoo or besan unde
  5. Add in roasted cashews and continue roasting under medium flame for a minute.roasted cashews for besan ladoo or besan unde
  6. Now add in 2/3rd portion of ghee (2/3rd portion of 1/4 cup ghee).ghee for besan ladoo or besan unde
  7. Break the lumps and continue roasting under medium flame for 2 more minutes.Switch off the stove.roasting gram flour with ghee for besan ladoo or besan unde
  8. Immediately add in powdered sugar and mix well.powdered sugar for besan ladoo or besan unde
  9. Wait until warm. If you find the besan ladoo mixture is too dry then add in remaining ghee in stages. Please note I added less than 1/4 cup of ghee for 1 cup of gram flour.gram flour, ghee and sugar for besan ladoo or besan unde
