Avalakki unde or poha ladoo or aval laddu recipe explained with step by step pictures. Avalakki unde or poha laddu is prepared using beaten rice, sugar, dessicated coconut and little ghee. This aval laddu or ladoo is a very easy recipe. Since no sugar syrup is involved in this unde or ladoo recipe, it is hassle free and anyone can prepare easily.

Avalakki unde or poha ladoo recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 10 min
Serves: 10 no

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup medium poha or beaten rice or avalakki
  2. 1/2 cup grated dry coconut (or fresh coconut)
  3. 1/4 cup sugar
  4. 2 tbsp ghee
  5. 2 - 3 tbsp boiled milk
  6. 4 - 5 cashews broken (optional; I didn't use)
  7. 1 tbsp raisins
  8. A big pinch of cardamom

Instructions for making avalakki unde or poha ladoo:

  1. Heat the ghee in a frying pan. Roast the broken cashews (optional and I didn't use) and raisins until raisins are puffed up. Take them out and keep it aside.cashews and raisins for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
  2. Now to the same frying pan add in avalakki or beaten rice and fry until slightly brown under medium flame.rava or semolina for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
  3. When the it is done, add in dry grated dry coconut and fry for a minute. Wait until fried ingredients are cool. You can use fresh grated coconut also but then the shelf life will come down.coconut for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
  4. Next make a fine powder of sugar using mixer grinder.sugar for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
  5. Add in fried beaten rice and coconut. Grind until coarse powder.roasted ingredients for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
  6. Transfer it into a container or bowl. Add in fried raisins and cardamom powder.mixing ingredients for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
  7. Now sprinkle 2 - 3 tbsp of milk.milk for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
  8. Give a quick mix.milk for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
  9. Take small portion in hand and start making the laddus. You can add required milk to make the laddus.mixing ingredients for avalakki unde or poha laddu or aval ladoo
