This is a very easy and tasty carrot beans palya with fresh ground masala. Masala is prepred by grinding coconut, onion, green chilli, curry leaves and cumin seeds. This masala makes the palya very tasty and gives an unique flavor.

Carrot beans palya recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 20 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup chopped carrot
  2. 1 cup chopped beans
  3. 1 tsp urad dal
  4. 1 tsp gram dal or chana dal
  5. 1 tbsp cooking oil
  6. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  7. 1 red chili (optional)
  8. A big pinch of turmeric powder
  9. Salt as per your taste

Ingredients for grinding:

  1. 1/4 cup grated coconut
  2. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  3. 1/2 onion or 1/2 cup small onion
  4. 4-5 curry leaves
  5. 1 - 2 green chilli

Instructions for making carrot beans palya recipe:

  1. Chop beans and carrot.
  2. Heat a tbsp of oil in a frying pan. Add in 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp urad dal, 1 tsp chana dal and red chilli.tempering for carrot beans palya recipe
  3. Wait until mustard seeds splutter and urad dals turn brown. Add in chopped carrot and beans. Fry for a minute.tempering for carrot beans palya recipe
