This carrot sasuve or thambli prepared using carrot, coconut and yoghurt. This carrot raita can be used as an accompaniment with rice.

Carrot thambuli recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 big carrot
  2. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  3. 1 red chili
  4. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  5. 1 cup curd / yoghurt
  6. Salt as per your taste

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1 red chilli
  2. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  3. 2 tsp cooking oil

Instructions for making carrot sasuve or raita:

  1. Clean, wash and grate the carrot.grated carrot for carrot raita or thambuli
  2. Take grated coconut, 1/4 tsp mustard and red chili in a mixie jar or blender.coconut and red chili for carrot raita or thambuli
  3. Grind it into a fine paste by adding required water.grind coconut and red chili for carrot raita or thambuli
  4. At the end add in grated carrot to the same jar.grated carrot for carrot raita or thambuli
  5. Just coarse grind the carrot or grind it for few seconds.grind carrot for carrot raita or thambuli
  6. Pour the ground coconut, red chili, mustard and carrot in to a bowl. Add in curd and salt.curd for carrot raita or thambuli
  7. Temper it with red chilli, mustard seeds and oil. Serve it with hot rice.tempering carrot raita or thambuli
