Sabakki dose or sabudana dosa recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. Sabbakki dose is prepared using rice and sago pearls. This is a very easy and tasty dosa recipe. This sabakki or sabudana dosa is a perfect recipe, if you are looking for a no-dal, no avalakki, no-curd, no-rava dosa.

In this sabbakki dosa recipe, I have used only rice and sabudana (or sago pearls). And the dosas will turn out slightly crispy and slightly chewy. However you can add some urad dal and poha to prepare soft spongy dosa. I will soon post that recipe.

Sabakki dose or sabudana dosa recipe

Preparation time: 13 hours
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 3

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup dosa rice or raw rice
  2. 1/2 cup sabakki or sabudana
  3. 1 onion finely chopped
  4. 1 tbsp finely chopped curry leaves
  5. 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
  6. 1 green chilli finely chopped
  7. Ghee or oil for cooking
  8. Salt as per your taste

Instructions for making sabbakki dose:

  1. Take rice and sabudana in a container.rice and sago pearls for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  2. Soak it for 3 hours.soaked rice and sabudana for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  3. After soaking, drain the water and transfer the soaked ingredients into a mixie jar.soaked rice and sabudana for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  4. Grind until fine batter by adding required water. Transfer it into a container.grinding for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  5. Give a quick mix. Close the lid and ferment it for 7 - 8 hours or overnight.fermenting for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  6. After fermentation, add in chopped onion, curry leaves and coriander leaves.onion adn leaves for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  7. Also add in salt as per your taste.salt for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  8. Prepare batter having regular dosa batter consistency.batter for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  9. Now heat the dosa pan and grease it. Pour a laddle full of batter and spread it in a circular way.making sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  10. Close the lid for 5 - 10 seconds. Allow it to cook under medium flame.cooking sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  11. Open the lid, drizzle some ghee or oil.ghee for sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
  12. Cook on the other side as well. Serve it with any spicy chutney of your choice.cooked sabakki dose or sabudana dosa
