Uddina bonda or uddina vade recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. Uddina bonda or mysore bonda is prepared using urad dal, green chilli, curry leaves, coriander leaves, ginger, coconut and salt. Preparing crispy uddina bonda or uddina vade is very easy and is very tasty. Uddina vade is familiar by different names like uddina vade, mysore bonda, mysore bajji, biscuit ambode etc.,

You can find regular uddina vade or medu vada recipe here. However I prefer this uddina bonda recipe as this is very easy and hassle free. You need not struggle to give the shape. After soaking the urad dal, you need just 15 minutes to prepare this tasty snacks.

Uddina vade or uddina bonda can be served either with chutney or without chutney. You can also prepare bonda soup using these bondas.

Uddina bonda recipe

Preparation time: 2 hours
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup urad dal
  2. 1 tbsp rice flour
  3. 1 tbsp chopped curry leaves
  4. 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  5. 1 tsp chopped ginger
  6. 2 tbsp chopped fresh coconut pieces
  7. 1 green chilli finely chopped
  8. 1/2 tsp salt (or as per your taste)
  9. 1/4 cup water
  10. Oil for deep frying

Instructions for making uddina bonda:

  1. Soak 1/2 cup urad dal for 2 hours.soaking urad dal for uddina bonda or uddina vade
  2. After soaking drain the water completely.soaked urad dal for uddina bonda or uddina vade
  3. And then transfer it into a mixie jar.soaked urad dal for uddina bonda or uddina vade
  4. Grind it into a fine and thick batter by adding minimum required water. You can add up to 1/4 cup of water, but add it little by little.grinding urad dal for uddina bonda or uddina vade
  5. Transfer the ground urad dal batter into a container. Add in finely chopped green chilli, curry leaves, ginger and coriander leaves.ginger, leaves and green chillies for uddina bonda or uddina vade
  6. Also add in salt as per your taste. I have added around 1/2 tsp of salt. Give a quick mix.salt for uddina bonda or uddina vade
  7. Optionally add in 1 tbsp of rice flour to make the uddina bonda crispy and oil free. Give a very good mix after adding rice flour. Make sure thee are no lumps.rice flour for uddina bonda or uddina vade
  8. Now heat the oil in a deep frying pan. Wet your fingers and drop the batter into the hot oil.frying uddina bonda or uddina vade
  9. After a while flip the bondas and fry on all sides under medium flame.frying uddina bonda or uddina vade
  10. Take them out when the bubbles are reduced and the colour changes to golden brown. Serve it with chutney and tea.fried uddina bonda or uddina vade
