Oats payasa or oats kheer recipe explained with step by step pictures. Oats payasa or oats kheer is prepared using quick cooking oats, milk and jaggery. This is a healthy and tasty oats payasam or oats kheer recipe. Oats kheer is very easy to prepare.

This is a very very easy and quick payasa or kheer recipe. You can prepare this oats payasa or kheer in 10 - minutes. I use quick cooking oats quite often. I generally prepare porridge in the morning. But this is my first recipe using oats.

Oats payasa or oats kheer recipe

Preparation time: 2 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup quick cooking oats (I have used quacker)
  2. 1/2 cup jaggery
  3. 2.5 cup milk
  4. 1 cup water
  5. 2 tbsp ghee
  6. 5-6 cashews
  7. A big pinch of cardamom

Instructions for making oats payasa or oats kheer:

  1. To begin with, take milk in a container and keep it for boiling.
  2. Next take oats in a frying pan. Add in ghee and start frying under medium flame.oats and ghee for oats payasa or oats kheer
  3. Roast until oats turns light brown and you get a nice aroma.roasting oats for oats payasa or oats kheer
  4. Next add in a cup of water and a cup of milk.water and milk for oats payasa or oats kheer
  5. Bring it to boil and start cooking under medium flame. Quick cooking oats takes hardly 3 minutes to cook.cooking oats for oats payasa or oats kheer
  6. Next add in chopped nuts (any nuts like cashew or badam or pista).cashew for oats payasa or oats kheer
  7. And also add in powdered jaggery. Stir and cook until jaggery is dissolved.jaggery for oats payasa or oats kheer
  8. Followed by add in cardamom powder.cardamom powder for oats payasa or oats kheer
  9. Next add in remaining milk and give a quick mix. Oats payasa will turn thick once it is cool. So keep this in mind and adjust the consistency.milk for oats payasa or oats kheer
