Coconut jaggery burfi or kayi bella burfi recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Coconut burfi or tenginakayi burfi is a very easy and quick sweet recipe prepared using fresh grated coconut and jaggery. Bella haakida kobbari mithai or kayi burfi is a very tasty recipe and it just melts in your mouth.

I learnt this coconut burfi recipe from my mother. I love this sweet a lot. So I keep preparing it often. Since kayi burfi or coconut burfi is a very easy and simple dessert, even the beginners can try and enjoy!!

I have already posted the regular coconut burfi recipe using sugar. That is also very easy to prepare and tastes too good. But this jaggery coconut burfi is more healthy and it is a perfect recipe for those people who wants to avoid white sugar.

Kayi or coconut burfi recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 10 min
Serves: 12 - 16 burfis

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup grated coconut (pressed)
  2. 3/4 cup jaggery
  3. 1 tbsp ghee
  4. 2 cardamoms
  5. Plate or tray greased with ghee

Instructions for making kayi or coconut burfi recipe:

  1. Take grated coconut and cardamom in a mixie jar.coconut and cardamom for bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
  2. Add in required water and grind the coconut until smooth. I have used half cup of water.grind coconut for bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
  3. Add in jaggery and grind it again. You can dissolve the jaggery in water, filter it and then use the jaggery water to grind to remove the impurities from jaggery.jaggery for bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
  4. Transfer the ground coconut and jaggery into a pan and keep it for boiling.coconut and jaggery for bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
  5. Meantime grease a plate or tray with ghee.greasing plate for bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
  6. Keep stirring the mixture continuously under medium flame. Within 4 - 5 minutes and mixture will start turning thick.sugar for bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
  7. At this stage add a tbsp of ghee and continue stirring under medium flame.cardamom for bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
  8. When the mixture comes together and turns little whitish in colour, it is done.Ghee for bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
  9. Transfer it into a greased plate or tray. Level the surface using the back of a greased spoon.transfer bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi mixture to greased plate
  10. Wait until excess heat is reduced and cut it into pieces using a knife.cutting the bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi mixture
  11. Take it out, once it is completely cool. Take out the pieces and store it in an air tight container.bella kayi burfi or coconut jaggery burfi
