Tomato sasive or tomato riata recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Tomato sasive is a very easy and tasty sidedish for rice or chapathi. It can be prepared in just 5 minutes. Tomato sasive is prepared using tomato, curd, coconut, red chili and mustard.

As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, sasive and thambli are curd or yoghurt based gravy recipes. Sasive is a small side dish in a multi coarse meal. Sasive is generally prepared by grinding coconut, chili and mustard.

Tomato sasive recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 large sized tomatoes
  2. 2 red chilies
  3. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  4. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  5. 1/4 - 1/2 cup curd
  6. 1 tsp salt or as per your taste.

Ingredients for tempering: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 red chili
  2. 2 tsp cooking oil
  3. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  4. few curry leaves

Instructions for making tomato sasive:

  1. Take finely chopped tomatoes in a bowl.finely chopped tomato for tomato sasive or tomato raita
  2. Add in salt, squeeze and mix well.salt for tomato sasive or tomato raita
  3. Add in curd and give a quick mix. Keep it aside.curd for tomato sasive or tomato raita
  4. Take grated coconut, red chili and mustard seeds in a mixie jar. Grind it into a fine paste by adding required water.grinding ingredients for tomato sasive or tomato raita
  5. Transfer ground paste into the bowl, which has tomato curd mixture.ground paste for tomato sasive or tomato raita
  6. Add in little water and give a quick mix.making tomato sasive or tomato raita
  7. Temper it with oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves, urad dal and red chili. Serve it with hot steaming rice or chapathi.tempering tomato sasive or tomato raita
