chitranna or lemon rice without onion

Authentic chitranna or lemon rice recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. In Karnataka, mainly there are two types of chitranna or lemon rice recipes using lemon. One is with onion and the other one is without onion. Here I will be explaining the chitranna or lemon rice without onion. This type of chitranna is in practice across Malnad region of Karnataka, India. And is popular by name "kayi-sasuve chitranna". This type of chitranna is more tangy, a little mushy and well mixed with ground coconut, mustard and greenchilli mixture.

Now many of you might think..What a lemon rice without onion? For those who are thinking, I just want to say...please do not underestimate the taste of this authentic malnad style kayi-sasuve chitranna or lemon rice recipe. It is much more tastier compared to the regular "with onion lemon rice".

Like Karnataka style vegetable pulav, lemon rice is another recipe, for which I am very popular in my family. Atleast once in a week I prepare this at my home. And the peanut(ground nut)-lemon combination makes this lemon rice a super healthy food.

We have posted many ricebath recipes like bisi bele bath, veg pulav, tomato bath, curd rice, ghee rice, pongal, gorikayi rice bath, vangi bath, methi rice, puliyogare and pudina pulao recipes.
