Green chilli fry or menasinakayi fry recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. This is a very easy north Karnataka style green chilli fry recipe and prepared using green chillies, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, salt and lemon juice. You can prepare this in just 5 minutes and serve it like pickle.

This is a very easy recipe, which you cn prepare in just 5 minutes. I have used less spicy green chillies here. However if the chillies are spicy, you can deseed them while slitting to reduce the spiciness. Also I have used lemon juice in this recipe, which you can replace it with either tamarind juice or amchur powder.

You can prepare this and store it for few days. And serve it with roti or chapathi or rice or curd rice or with any chats. You can find one more spicy red chilli chutney (ranjaka) on this website. You can also find many north karntaka recipes.

Green chilli fry recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 6

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 10-12 green chillies (less spicy)
  2. 1 tsp coriander powder
  3. 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  4. A big pinch turmeric powder
  5. A big pinch hing or asafoetida
  6. Salt as per your taste
  7. 1/2 lemon or 1 tbsp lemon juice
  8. 2 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions for making green chilli fry recipe:

  1. To begin with rinse and pat dry the green chillies. Please note, I have used less spicy green chillies.green chillies for green chilli fry recipe
  2. Slit them lengthwise. If you want to reduce the spiciness, deseed them.slitting green chillies for green chilli fry recipe
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan. Add in slit green chillies and start frying them under low flame.frying green chillies for green chilli fry recipe
  4. Fry them for 2 minutes. Then add in coriander powder and cumin powder.coriander powder and cumin powder for green chilli fry recipe
  5. Followed by add in asafoetida and turmeric powder. Optionally you can add little red chilli powder to increase the spiciness.turmeric and asafoetida for green chilli fry recipe
  6. Also add in salt as per your taste. I have added around 1 tsp of salt.salt for green chilli fry recipe
  7. Give a quick mix.making green chilli fry recipe
