Pineapple sweet curry or ananas gojju recipe explained with step by step pictures. Ananas gojju is a mouth watering curry prepared using pineapple, jaggery, coconut and rasam powder. If you do not have rasam powder, then replace it by (1/2 tasp red chili+1/2 tsp coriander+1/4 tsp cumin). This pineapple curry or ananas gojju goes very well with rice. You can also use this curry as a side dish for chapathi or dosa.

Pineapple curry or Ananas gojju recipe

Preparation time: 20 min
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 small pineapple
  2. 1 big lemon sized jaggery
  3. 4 tsp cooking oil
  4. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  5. 1 tsp urad dal
  6. 1 tsp channa dal or bengal gram dal
  7. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  8. 4-5 curry leaves
  9. 1-2 green chili or red chili
  10. 1 tsp rasam powder (refer description above)
  11. 1/4 cup grated coconut
  12. Salt as per your taste

Instructions for making Pineapple curry or Ananas gojju:

  1. Wash, peel and chop the pineapple into very small pieces. cutting pineapple for pineapple curry or ananas gojju
  2. Heat the frying pan, add oil, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, urad dal and channa dal.tempering for pineapple curry or ananas gojju
  3. When the urad dal turns brown, add in slit green chili (or red chili) and curry leaves.tempering for pineapple curry or ananas gojju
  4. Add in chopped pineapple. Fry for 2 minutes.frying and cooking bitter gourd for pineapple curry or ananas gojju
  5. Add in turmeric powder, salt, jaggery and water. Give a quick mix.frying and cooking pineapple for pineapple curry or ananas gojju
  6. When it starts boiling reduce the flame. Close the lid and cook until soft by stirring occasionally.frying and cooking bitter gourd for pineapple curry or ananas gojju
  7. When the pineapple is cooked, add in grated coconut and rasam powder. rasam powder and coconut for pineapple curry or ananas gojju
  8. Mix well and switch off the stove. Serve it with hot rice or chapathi.rasam powder and coconut for pineapple curry or ananas gojju
