Menthe thambli or menthya thambuli prepared using raw soaked fenugreek seeds, curd, coconut. This methi seeds raita is very good and very simple recipe. Menthe hasi thambli or tambli helps to reduce the body heat. This tambli or raita is a very good recipe for piles or constipation. If you remember I have posted one menthe idli and one menthe rasam recipe prepared using fenugreek seeds. These two are very tasty and healthy recipes using fenugreek seeds.

Menthe or fenugreek seeds thambli or raita is not bitter but it is a bit slimy. But it is very helpful in treating constipation, piles, mouth ulcer etc., It is also a diabetic friendly recipe. This methi seeds raita can be served as a gravy for rice or can be served as a beverage. It provides cooling soothing effect to the body. There is another type of menthe or menthya thambli, in which we will fry the methi seeds. I will share that recipe also soon. Hasi menthe thambli recipe

Preparation time: 4 hours
Cooking time: 10 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 tsp menthe or methi or fenugreek seeds
  2. 1/4 cup grated coconut
  3. 1 cup whisked curd or plain yoghurt or buttermilk
  4. Water as required
  5. Salt as per your taste.

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1 red chili
  2. 1 tsp cooking oil or ghee
  3. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds

Instructions for making hasi menthe thambli:

  1. Rinse and soak 2 tsp fenugreek seeds for 4 hours.fenugreek seeds for menthe hasi tambli or thambli
  2. Drain the water and transfer the soaked fenugreek seeds into a mixie jar along with grated coconut.coconut for menthe hasi tambli or thambli
  3. Use required water and grind it until fine paste.grind fenugreek seeds and coconut for menthe hasi tambli or thambli
  4. Transfer it to a bowl. Add in 1 cup of whisked curd or buttermilk.curd or buttermilk for menthe hasi tambli or thambli
  5. Add in required water and salt. Give a quick mix. I add 1 cup of water.water and salt for menthe hasi tambli or thambli
  6. Temper it with oil, mustard seeds and red chili. Serve it with rice or serve it like a beverage.tempering for menthe hasi tambli or thambli
