Easy alasande kalu saaru or avade kalu saaru or cowpea rasam recipe explained with step by step pictures. This saaru or rasam is a very simple gravy recipe since it is prepared without coconut and without masala powders. I have used cowpea or avade kalu in this recipe. But this rasam also tastes good with green gram and black eyed white beans. You can even mix 3 - 4 varieties of grams or beans or cowpeas.
This alasande kalu or cowpea rasam is mainly served as an accompaniment with hot steaming rice. But it can also be used as a sidedish for chapathi by using little water.
