Alasande kalu saaru recipe

Easy alasande kalu saaru or avade kalu saaru or cowpea rasam recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. This saaru or rasam is a very simple gravy recipe since it is prepared without coconut and without masala powders. I have used cowpea or avade kalu in this recipe. But this rasam also tastes good with green gram and black eyed white beans. You can even mix 3 - 4 varieties of grams or beans or cowpeas.

This is a very easy and very very tasty gravy recipe prepared using black eyed beans, salt, tamarind and a big fat tempering. Tempering includes oil, mustard, cumin, red chilli, curry leaves and garlic. This alasande kaalu saaru or saar upkari can be served with hot steaming rice.

This alasande kalu or cowpea rasam is mainly served as an accompaniment with hot steaming rice. But it can also be used as a sidedish for chapathi by using little water.
