Ribbon pakoda recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Ribbon pakoda is a quick evening snacks recipe prepared using rice flour, gram flour, butter and few other spices. Ribbon pakoda is a deep fried tea time snacks and it is very tasty.

This recipe gives you oil free, crispy ribbon pakodas. I have used 1 tbsp butter, however if you can increase the amount of butter to make it more crispy. You can also replace the butter with 2 tbsp hot oil.

Spices used in this recipe can be changed as per your taste. You can increase the chilli powder to make it spicy. You can replace the asafoetida with ginger-garlic paste if you like your ribbon pakoda that way.

Ribbon pakoda can be prepared in very less time using very minimum ingredients. So when there is a sudden guest at home or if you want something to munch on along with your cup of tea, then this is a perfect recipe to remember. Do not forget to try this easy and tasty snacks recipe.

Ribbon pakoda recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 10 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup rice flour
  2. 1/2 cup gram flour or besan or kadle hittu
  3. 1 tsp sesame seeds
  4. 1/2 tsp crushed cumin seeds
  5. Big pinch of turmeric powder
  6. A pinch of asafoetida
  7. 1/2 - 1 tsp red chili powder
  8. 1 tsp salt (or as per taste)
  9. 1 tbsp butter (or 2 tbsp hot oil)
  10. Oil to deep fry

Instructions for making ribbon pakoda:

  1. Take rice flour and gram flour (kadle hittu) in a wide bowl.rice flour and gram flour for ribbon pakoda recipe

  3. Add in turmeric powder, red chili powder and asafoetida. You can replace the asafoetida with 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste.spices for ribbon pakoda recipe

  5. Add in butter. Rub and mix everything together again. You can replace the butter with hot oil.butter for ribbon pakoda recipe

  8. Take ribbon pakoda mould or murukku mould or chakkuli acchu, with the plate having tape like hole.mould or acchu for ribbon pakoda recipe
  9. Make a cylindrical shaped dough and put it in the mould.filling dough in the mould for ribbon pakoda recipe
  10. Heat the oil in a wide frying pan. And press the dough directly in to the hot oil using the mould. Fry under medium flame.frying ribbon pakoda recipe
  11. Flip after 8 - 10 seconds. Fry until bubbles or sound has stopped. Take it out and seve it with hot tea. Wait until cool and then transfer it into an air tight container.frying ribbon pakoda recipe
