Southekai paddu or cucumber guliyappa recipe explained with step by step pictures. Southekai paddu or cucumber paddu is prepared using grated cucumber, rice flour, curd, coconut, coriander leaves, onion and cumin seeds. Southekai paddu or appa is very healthy and tasty. This is an instant appe or paniyaram recipe.

To prepare paddu or guliyappa or paniyaram or appe, a different type of pan with pits is used. Cucumber paddu recipe

Preparation time: 15 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup rice flour
  2. 1 cup grated cucumber
  3. 2 tbsp curd
  4. 1/2 onion finely chopped
  5. 1 tbsp finely chopped curry leaves
  6. 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
  7. 1 green chili finely chopped
  8. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  9. 1 tbsp grated coconut
  10. Oil for cooking
  11. Salt as per your taste

Instructions for making cucumber paddu:

  1. To prepare cucumber paddu or guliyappa, take rice flour in a wide bowl.rice flour for cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
  2. Now to that, add in grated cucumber. I prefer big gratings. Give a quick mix.grated cucumber for cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
  3. Add in salt and give a quick mix.salt for cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
  4. Add in curd and give a quick mix.curd for cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
  5. Add in finely chopped onion, green chilli, curry leaves and coriander leaves. Give a quick mix.onion, curry leaves and green chili for cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
  6. Followed by add in cumin seeds and grated coconut. If required add in little water and adjust the consistency. It shall have dropping consistency or thick dosa batter consistency.cumin and grated coconut for cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
  7. Now heat the paddu pan and put few drops of oil in all the pits.pan for making cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
  8. Pour the batter in all the pits.pour batter for making cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
  9. Close the lid for a minute. Allow it to cook under low-medium flame.cooking cucumber paddu or southekai guliyappa
