I have used salt, buttermilk, asafoetida, finely chopped onion and curry leaves in this recipe. All these ingredients are optional. You can replace all these ingredients with any other ingredients of your choice. For example you can serve it with pickle or you can add black pepper powder or ginger or green chili etc., Ragi porridge is a very healthy for kids as well.
