Bellada Panaka or panaka recipe explained with step by step pictures. Bellada panaka translates to jaggery juice in Kannada language. The most common ingredients in panaka is jaggery, tamarind (or lemon), ginger, pepper and cardamom. Few ingredients are optional.

In other languages Panaka is familiar by name panakam. This Bellada panaka is usually prepared and distributed on Hindu festival Shri rama navami. Along with panaka, many more dishes are prepared like kosambari, masale majjige, oggarane majjige and kadlebele kosambari recipes. Shri Ram Navami is a Hindu festival, celebrating the birth of Lord Rama. I have explained two types of panaka here. And I have prepred it in a small quantity.

Bellada panaka recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 0 min
Serves: 1

Ingredients required (Recipe 1): (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup water
  2. A big pinch of dry ginger powder or 1/4 tsp crushed ginger
  3. 1 tbsp powdered jaggery
  4. A pinch of pepper powder (optional)
  5. 1 tsp lemon juice
  6. A pinch of cardamom powder (optional)

Ingredients required (Recipe 2): (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup water
  2. 1 tbsp powdered jaggery
  3. A pinch of pepper powder (optional)
  4. 1 marble sized tamarind
  5. A pinch of cardamom powder (optional)

Instructions for making bellada panaka (Recipe1):

  1. Take one cup of water. Add in ginger, jaggery, pepper, lemon juice and cardamom powder. Mix welland rest it for 10 minutes. And then serve it.ginger and pepper for ram navami panaka

Instructions for making bellada panaka (Recipe2):

  1. Soak tamarind and extract the tamarind juice. Take 1 cup of water. Add in tamarind extract, jaggery, pepper, and cardamom powder. Mix well and rest it for 10 minutes. And then serve it. tamarind and pepper for ram navami panaka
