Peas paratha or green peas paratha recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Peas paratha or hasi batani paratha is also familiar by name matar paratha. This is a stuffed green peas paratha recipe. Peas paratha or batani parota is prepared using wheat powder, green peas, garam masala, ginger and garlic. This is a very tasty paratha recipe.

I pack parathas to my Son's lunch box. Especially aloo paratha, aloo carrot paratha and this green peas paratha. He likes chapathi with curries also. But still for lunch box he prefers parathas. And it's very convenient for me as well.

I have used frozen green peas in this recipe. You can use either frozen or fresh green peas. Green peas are packed with protien. It's a ideal food for growing kids. I have posted one more green peas pulav recipe on this website.

Green peas paratha recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 25 min
Serves: 8 no

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. Wheat flour for 8 chapathis
  2. 2 cup fresh or frozen green peas
  3. 2 - 3 green chili
  4. 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  5. 4 cloves garlic
  6. 1 cm length ginger
  7. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  8. 1/4 tsp garam masala
  9. A pinch of turmeric powder
  10. Salt as per your taste
  11. Water as required
  12. 12 tsp cooking oil or ghee

Instructions for making green peas paratha or matar parata:

  1. Take wheat flour in a wide bowl. Knead it into a soft dough by adding salt and required water. At the end add in 2 table spoon of oil, knead it for a while, cover it and rest it.
  2. Take either fresh or frozen green peas in a container.fresh green peas for green peas paratha or matar parata
  3. Next steam cook the green peas. I filled my cooker with a cup of water and placed the container inside (without adding water to the green peas) and pressure cooked the green peas by making 3 whistles. If cooking it by adding water then after cooking drain the water completely. Keep it aside.cooking green peas for green peas paratha or matar parata
  4. Next grind the coriander leaves, ginger, garlic and green chili using a mixer grinder. If required add in a tbsp of water while grinding.grinding for green peas paratha or matar parata
  5. Next to the same jar..add in cooked green peas.cooked green peas for green peas paratha or matar parata
  6. Coarse grind it. Keep it aside.grinding green peas for green peas paratha or matar parata
  7. Next heat a tsp of oil in a frying pan and add cumin seeds.cumin seeds for green peas paratha or matar parata
  8. When cumin seeds splutters, add in ground green peas and spice mixture.ground green peas for green peas paratha or matar parata
  9. Add in turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt. Optionally you can add carom seeds. Stir until excess water is dried and switch off the stove.stuffing for green peas paratha or matar parata
  10. Once the mixture is warm make lemon sized balls.stuffing balls for green peas paratha or matar parata
  11. Next take a lemon sized wheat flour dough and make it like a bowl using fingers. Place a green peas stuffing ball inside. Carefully bring the sides together and stuff the masala inside. Make sure that the outer cover is of even thickness throughout. Press it gently to flatten it.stuffing green peas paratha or matar parata
  12. Dust enough wheat flour on flattened and stuffed dough and roll it carefully using a rolling pin.rolling green peas paratha or matar parata
  13. Heat the tava or pan and cook the rolled radish paratha by applying little oil or ghee.cook the green peas paratha or matar parata
  14. Flip and cook on both the sides.cook the green peas paratha or matar parata
  15. Once parathas are done, apply some ghee on both the sides and serve it. This given good aroma and softness to the paratha.ghee for green peas paratha or matar parata
