Heerekayi sippe dose or ridge gourd peel dosa is an instant dosa prepared using ridgegourd peel, rice, red chili, coconut, coriander, cumin, jaggery and tamarind.

Last week I had prepared ridgegourd dosa for breakfast. And I had left out with the peels, which I was planning to use in the ridge gourd peel chutney. But then my Father-in-law gave me this ridge gourd peel dosa idea. I tried it very next day and the results were awesome. These heerekai dose or ridge gourd dosa can be served hot with either chutney or coconut oil or ghee.

Heerekai sippe dose recipe

Preparation time: 5 hrs
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 3

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup dosa rice
  2. 1.5 cup chopped ridge gourd peels
  3. 1/4 cup grated coconut
  4. 1 tsp coriander seeds
  5. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  6. 2 red chilies
  7. A small marble sized tamarind
  8. 1 tsp jaggery (optional)
  9. Salt as per your taste
  10. 4 tsp cooking oil or ghee.

Instructions for making heerekai sippe dose:

  1. Chop the ridge gourd peels. Make sure that the peels are not very hard.ridge gourd peels for ridge gourd peel dosa or heerekai sippe dose
  2. To make ridge gourd peel dosa first wash and soak the rice in water for at least 4-5 hours.soak the rice for ridge gourd peel dosa or heerekai sippe dose
  3. After soaking, drain the water and transfer the rice into a mixie jar. Next add in red chili, grated coconut, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, jaggery and tamarind. Use required water and grind until smooth. grind the rice for ridge gourd peel dosa or heerekai sippe dose
  4. Next add in chopped ridge gourd peels and grind it again until smooth, which is little coarse.smooth batter for ridge gourd peel dosa or heerekai sippe dose
  5. Transfer it to a container. Add in salt and required water.watery batter for ridge gourd peel dosa or heerekai sippe dose
  6. The batter shall have thin milkshake consistency.watery batter for ridge gourd peel dosa or heerekai sippe dose
  7. Heat the pan. Pour a laddle full of batter. Spread in circular way and prepare dosa.smear oil for making ridge gourd peel dosa or heerekai sippe dose
  8. Close the lid and allow it to cook under medium flame. Open the lid, drizzle some oil or ghee and take out the dosa from the pan by using the flat spatula. Serve it hot with chutney.making ridge gourd peel dosa or heerekai sippe dose
