Chatpata matar or green peas snacks recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Hasi batani snacks or chatpata matar snacks is a very easy and simple evening snacks recipe prepared using fresh green peas, butter, cumin and few spice powders. This matar snacks can be prepared in just 5 minutes.

Green peas season is going on now. And I love fresh gree peas. During the sesaon, I generally prepare peas pulao, white kurma, peas paratha, aloo matar gobi etc., Apart from that I try to include fresh green peas where ever I can. I have used amchur powder or dry mango powder in this recipe, which you can replace it with little lemon juice. Also adjust the spices and salt as per your taste. As the name says, this is a chatpata snacks. You can prepare this in very less time with very common ingredients. It is healthy and is loved by all. Hasi batani snacks recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup shelled green peas
  2. 1 tbsp butter
  3. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  4. 1 tsp finely chopped ginger or 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  5. Salt as per your taste
  6. Big pinch of asafoetida
  7. 1/4 - 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  8. 1/4 tsp garam masala
  9. 1/4 tsp amchur powder (or 1/2 tsp lemon juice)
  10. 1/2 tsp coriander powder

Instructions for making hasi batani snacks:

  1. Shell the green peas, rinse and keep it ready. You can use frozen peas also.
  2. Next heat the butter in a pan and add in cumin seeds.butter and cumin seeds for chatpata matar or green peas snacks
  3. Wait until cumin seeds start to splutter. Add in finely chopped ginger. You can add ginger paste as well.butter and cumin seeds for chatpata matar or green peas snacks
  4. Add in shelled green peas.fresh green peas for chatpata matar or green peas snacks
  5. Fry for 2 minutes under high flame.fresh green peas for chatpata matar or green peas snacks
  6. Close the lid and cook until soft under low flame. Add in required water and stir occasionally.cooking batani for chatpata matar or green peas snacks
  7. Once cooked, add in salt, red chilli powder and asafoetida.salt and chilli powder for chatpata matar or green peas snacks
  8. Also add in garam masala, amchur powder and coriander powder. You can adjust the spices as per your taste.spices for chatpata matar or green peas snacks
