Doddapatre chutney

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 3

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 120ml)

  1. 30-40 doddapathre leaves / Indian Borage leaves
  2. 3 strands curry leaves / 30-40 curry leaves
  3. 2 tsp chana dal
  4. 2 tsp urad dal
  5. 2-4 red chili
  6. small marble sized tamarind
  7. 1 cup grated coconut
  8. 1 tsp cooking oil
  9. Salt as per your taste.

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1 red chili
  2. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  3. 1/2 tsp urad dal
  4. 2 tsp cooking oil

Instructions for making doddapathre chutney:

  1. Wash and pat dry doddapathre leaves. Heat a frying pan, add oil, red chili, chana dal and urad dal. Fry till the dal turns slightly brown. Reduce the flame, add curry leaves and fry for a minute.fry dals for doddapatre or sambarballi chutney
  2. Add doddapathre leaves, fry till the leaves become soft and switch off the stove.fry leaves for doddapatre or sambarballi chutney
  3. Grind it with coconut, salt and tamarind. Temper it with oil, red chili, mustard seeds and urad dal. Serve it with rice or dosa.grind leaves and dals for doddapatre or sambarballi chutney
