Rava toast is prepared using semolina, curd, onion, capsicum, tomato, coriander leaves and green chili. Rava toast is a very simple and quick snacks recipe. Also rava bread toast is a kids friendly recipe.

This is a kids friendly recipe. Very rarely I post these kind of recipes as my focus is on traditional Karnataka recipes. Saying so I have posted baby corn manchurian, gobi manchurian, babycorn golden fry, corn cutlet, pasta and many more recipes. These are all my my Son's favourites.

In my house we don't buy bread regularly. Even if we buy, my Son will eat the bread with either butter or jam. Or I prepare his favourite curd sandwich or vegetable grilled sandwich (I will post the recipe soon) or Iyengar bakery style bread toast. Recently I prepared bread paddu and that was a super hit in my family.

Rava toast recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 6

Ingredients for batter: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 6 - 8 bread slices
  2. 1/2 cup rava or semolina
  3. 1/4 cup curd
  4. 1/4 cup water
  5. 2 tbsp chopped onion
  6. 2 tbsp chopped capsicum
  7. 2 tbsp chopped tomato
  8. 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  9. 1 green chili chopped (adjust as per your spice level)
  10. 1/2 tsp finely chopped ginger (optional)
  11. One pinch asafoetida (optional)
  12. Salt as per your taste

Instructions for making rava toast:

  1. To begin take rava in a bowl. Add in water and curd.rava, curd and water for rava bread toast recipe
  2. Next add in finely chopped onion, capsicum, tomato, coriander leaves and green chili. Optionally you can add ginger or asafoetida.ingredients for rava bread toast recipe

  5. Next take bread slices. Trim the edges if you wish. I don't trim it. Spread the rava mixture on to the slices. Make sure, you spread it thin.bread for rava bread toast recipe
  6. Heat a pan. Drop little butter and toast the bread. To begin with toast the side, which has rava spread.toasting rava bread toast recipe
  7. During toasting apply butter on to the other side of the bread. Make sure, you toast it under medium flame.butter for rava bread toast recipe

  9. Flip few times. And toast it until light brown and crispy. Optionally you can cut them using pizza cutter or a knife. Serve them hot along with green chutney and tomato sauce.shallow frying rava bread toast recipe
