Corn cutlet or jolada cutlet recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Corn cutlet or corn patties are very tasty and very healthy. Corn cutlet is prepared using sweet corn, potato, beaten rice, ginger, red chili powder, curry leaves, coriander leaves, chat masala, amchur powder and garma masala. Corn cutlet is a kids friendly recipe.

This is a kids friendly recipe. Very rarely I post these kind of recipes as my focus is on traditional Karnataka recipes. Saying so I have posted babycorn manchurian, gobi manchurian, babycorn golden fry, curd sandwich, pasta and many more recipes. These are all my my Son's favourites.

Corn cutlet recipe

Preparation time: 30 min
Cooking time: 10 min
Serves: 6

Ingredients for batter: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 sweet corn or 1 cup sweet corn
  2. 1/2 cup thick beaten rice or gatti avalakki
  3. 1 large potato
  4. 1/2 tsp finely chopped ginger
  5. 1 tbsp finely chopped curry leaves
  6. 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
  7. 1/2 - 1 tsp red chili powder
  8. 1/2 - 1 tsp chat masala
  9. 1/2 tsp amchur powder (or lemon juice)
  10. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  11. Salt as per your taste
  12. Oil for shallow frying

Instructions for making corn cutlet:

  1. To begin with cook, peel and mash the potato.
  2. Take beaten rice or avalakki in a mixie jar, make a coarse powder and keep it aside.beaten rice for corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  3. Next take sweet corn in the same mixie jar, coarse grind it without adding any water and keep it aside.sweet corn for corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  4. Take mashed potato in a big bowl.mashed potato for corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  5. Add in coarsely ground sweet corn.ground sweet corn for corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  6. Add in finely chopped ginger, curry leaves and coriander.ginger and coriander leaves for corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  7. Add in salt, chat masala powder, red chili powder, amchur powder (or lemon juice) and garam masala powder. Adjust all these as per your taste. Give a quick mix.salt, red chili, chat masala and garam masala powder for corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  8. Next add in required beaten rice powder or avalakki pudi. Or add little by little until you get a stiff dough.beaten rice powder for corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  9. Take a big lemon sized mixture, make a round ball and flatten it. Optionally you ca roll it in the bread crumbs or beaten rice powder for extra crispiness.making corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  10. Heat a dosa pan. Drizzle oil and shallow fry the cutlets.shallow frying corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  11. After sometime, flip the culets and fry on the other side as well.shallow frying corn cutlet or jola cutlet
  12. Flip the culets 2 - 3 times and fry until golden brown. Serve it with tomato sauce.fried corn cutlet or jola cutlet
