Halasina kayi happala or raw jack fruit papad recipe explained with step by step pictures. Halasina kayi happala is very very tasty. Raw jack fruit is steam cooked, mashed, pressed and sun-dried to prepare tasty halasinakai happala. I have just used chili and salt in these papads. If you wish you can add any any other spices like cumin seeds, asafoetida and sesame seeds.
Halasinakayi happala or jack fruit papad is very popular and very common in malnad and Karavali region of Karnataka. Generally people will prepare these papads in large quantity during summer and use it through out the year. There it rains heavily for 4 - 5 months. Then winter starts and they all will be busy with farming and harveting. After that when summer starts they will start preparing various papads and fryums. It will be fun making papads at home, especially if you have kids.
It is not very easy to prepare raw jack fruit papad. Mashing the cooked jack fruit is a tiresome job. You need to put lot of strength to do that. I took these pictures from my native. Me and my Mother together prepared these papads during my visit in summer holidays. I have already shared sweet potato papad, which is another tasty papad recipe you can easily prepare.
