Southekai tambuli or cucumber tambli recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Southekayi thambli is very easy to prepare with very minimum ingredients like cucumber, coconut, green chilli, curd and a simple tempering. This cucumber raita is very soothing, comforting and tastes good with rice.

You can prepare this southekayi tambuli in very less time and it is a perfect recipe for the summer. I have used green chilli in this recipe, which can be replaced with roasted cumin and black pepper. Or you can include cumin in the tempering as well. Southekai tambli recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 medium sized cucumber
  2. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  3. 1 - 2 green chillies
  4. 3/4 cup thick buttermilk or curd
  5. Salt as per your taste

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1 tsp cooking oil
  2. 1 red chili
  3. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  4. Few curry leaves
  5. Big pinch of asafoetida

Instructions for making southekai tambli:

  1. Rinse and chop the cucumber.chopped cucumber for southekai tambuli or cucumber tambli recipe
  2. Take the chopped cucumber in a mixie jar. Add coconut and green chillies.green chilli and coconut for southekai tambuli or cucumber tambli recipe
