Rave chakli or rava chakkuli recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Rave chakli is a very easy and crispy murukku recipe prepared using fine rava, rice flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt and ghee. Chakli is a popular deep fried snacks from Karnataka.

Chakkuli, that is how chakli is familiar in Karnataka, is prepared on festivals and special occasions. There are so many varietis of chaklis are in practice through out Karnataka. This chakkuli recipe is an instant easy way to make chaklis yet it is the tastiest chakli. This is an easy way for those busy mothers or when you are in a hurry. Try this super light, crispy and tasty chakkulis. Please note that red chilli powder, sesame seeds and asafoetida are optional and you can skip it. Rava chakli recipe

Preparation time: 40 min
Cooking time: 20 min
Serves: 15

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup fine rava or chiroti rava
  2. 1 cup rice flour
  3. 1.5 cups water
  4. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  5. 1 tsp sesame seeds
  6. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (optional)
  7. 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  8. Salt as per your taste
  9. 1 tbsp heaped ghee
  10. Oil to deep fry

Instructions for making rava chakli:

  1. To begin with take 1.5 cups of water in a pan or container. Add salt as per taste and keep it for boiling.water with salt for rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
  2. Add ghee. The crispiness of the chaklis depend on the amount of ghee used.ghee for rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
  3. Wait until the water comes to rolling boil. Add the rava gradually by stirring continuously.fine rava for rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
  4. Mix it until rava is cooked and a thick paste is formed. Switch off the stove.cooked rava for rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
  5. Wait until excess heat is reduced. Add rice flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, red chilli powder and asafoetida. Please note that red chilli powder, sesame seeds and asafoetida are optional and you can skip it.rice flour and spices for rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
  6. Knead it well to prepare a soft but stiff dough. You can add extra rice flour if needed.dough for rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
  7. Take big orange sized dough and shape it into cylindrical.dough for rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe

  9. Press the chaklis on a plastic sheet or on a banana leaf.pressing the rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
  10. Take the pressed chaklis in hand and carefully drop it into the hot oil.frying rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
  11. Fry under medium flame until the bubbles are reduced and you get a lovely golden colour. Adding red chilli powder makes the chakli darker. Finish making all the chaklis and enjoy.fried rava chakli or rave chakkuli recipe
