tovve avalakki recipe

Tovve avalakki or aval pongal recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. This tasty poha or aval pongal is prepared by roasting and cooking moong dal. Moong dal and beaten rice are the 2 main ingredients. Few other spices and a tempering is used in this thove avalakki.

Tovve avalakki recipe is very similar to Karnataka style khara pongal. It tastes good when it is hot. Also keep in mind that it turns thick once it is cold. I have used medium avalakki in this recipe, which can be replaced with thick or gatti avalakki. If using gatti avalakki or thick poha, do soak it for 10 mins.
