kadambam recipe

Kadambam recipe is explained here with step by step pictures and video. Kadambam is a no-onion, no-garlic sambar rice prepared using rice, dals, mixed vegetables, sambar powder and few other spices. This can be served as a breakfast or meal or a light dinner.

Kadambam is a highly nutritious recipe as we are using dal, peanuts, rice and a lot of mixed vegetables. I have used mixed vegetables like pumpkin, cluster beans, radish, ladies finger, sweet potato (or potato), brinjal, bottle gourd, carrot, beans and tomato in this recipe. Carrot, beans, potato and tomatoes are optional. However it is recommeded not to skip traditional or local vegetables like pumpkin, sweet potato, cluster beans, broad beans, ladies finger, brinjal etc.,

This kadambam or sambar rice is similar but different than our bisibele bath. I learnt Kadambam recipe from Telugu speaking Brahmins who are settled in Karnataka. You can find many breakfast and light dinner recipes under breakfast section in this website.

I have made a video on this kadambam recipe with Kannada narration, which I have embedded it below. Kindly have a look.
