Balekai mosaru kootu or raw banana majjige sambar recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Balekayi kootu is a very tasty and easy gravy recipe prepared using raw banana, coconut, green chilli, cumin seeds and a tempering. Baalekai or raw banana majjige huli tastes good with hot steaming rice.

Balekai mosaru kootu recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 20 min
Serves: 3

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 balekai or raw bananas
  2. 2 tsp salt (or as per your taste)
  3. 1/2 cup curd or thick buttermilk

Ingredients for grinding: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  2. 2 - 4 green chillies
  3. 1 tsp jeera or cumin seeds

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1 red chilli
  2. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  3. 5 - 6 curry leaves
  4. Big pinch of asafoetida
  5. 2 tsp cooking oil

Instruction for making balekai mosaru kootu:

  1. Remove the outer skin of raw bananas and chop them.raw bananas for balekai mosaru kootu or raw banana majjige huli recipe
  2. Take the chopped raw bananas in a container. Add salt and water as required.chopped raw banana for balekai mosaru kootu or raw banana majjige huli recipe

  4. Meanwhile, take grated coconut, green chillies and cumin seeds in a mixie jar. Grind it into a paste by adding required water.spices for balekai mosaru kootu or raw banana majjige huli recipe
