Instant mandakki paddu or dideer kadle puri guliyappa recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. This mandakki paddu or murmura appe batter is prepared using puffed rice, rava, rice flour and curd. Mandakki paddu or appa is very tasty and it can be prepared in just 10 minutes. This instant paddu can be served with plain coconut chutney or any other chutney of your choice.

Instant mandakki paddu recipe

Preparation time: 14 hours
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 3 cups mandakki or murmura or puffed rice
  2. 1/2 cup rava
  3. 1/4 cup rice flour
  4. 1/2 cup curd
  5. Water as required
  6. Ghee or oil for cooking
  7. Salt as per your taste
  8. 1 onion chopped
  9. 2 - 4 tbsp coriander leaves
  10. 2 tbsp chopped curry leaves
  11. 1 green chilli chopped
  12. 1/2 tsp ginger chopped

Instructions for making instant mandakki paddu:

  1. Take mandakki or puffed rice in a mixie jar.puffed rice for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  2. Add in rava.rava for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  3. Add in rice flour.rice flour for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  4. Make a semi-fine powder.Powdered ingredients for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  5. Add in water. Please add the water little by little while grinding to adjust the consistency of batter.water for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  6. Add in curd.curd for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  7. Grind it into a smooth and thick batter. Transfer it into a container.batter for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  8. Add in salt.salt for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  9. Add in chopped onion, curry leaves, coriander leaves, green chilli and ginger. Mix everything well.onion, curry leaves, green chilli and ginger for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  10. Now heat the guliyappa or paddu pan and put few drops of oil in all the pits.pan for making mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  11. Pour the batter in all the pits.pan for making mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  12. Close the lid for 5 - 10 seconds. Allow it to cook under medium flame.close the lid and cook mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  13. Open the lid and drizzle oil on top. Flip the guliyappas or paddus and cook on the other side as well.drizzle oil for mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa
  14. Take out the paddus. Serve it with coconut chutney. cook mandakki paddu or kadle puri guliyappa on both sides
