Thuppada avalakki or ghee poha recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. This is a very easy and tasty evening snack recipe prepared using thin beaten rice, peanuts, cashews, green chillies, fresh grated coconut, green chilli, coriander leaves, salt, sugar and ghee.

Thuppada avalakki or poha recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 3 cups thin beaten rice/poha/avalakki
  2. 2 tbsp peanut or shenga
  3. 2 tbsp cashews
  4. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  5. 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  6. 1 tsp lemon juice or as per your taste
  7. 1 tsp ghee

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  2. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  3. 1 onion
  4. 1 - 2 green chilies chopped
  5. 4 - 6 curry leaves
  6. 3/4 tsp sugar or as per your taste
  7. 3/4 tsp salt or as per your taste
  8. 2 tsp ghee

Instructions for making thuppada avalakki:

  1. Heat a tsp of ghee.ghee for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes
  2. Add in peanuts and roast until crisp.peanuts for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes
  3. Add in cashews and roast until golden brown.cashews for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes
  4. Take it out and keep it aside.roasted nuts for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes
  5. Heat 2 tsp of ghee.ghee for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes
  6. Add in mustard and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.mustard and cumin for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes
  7. Add in chopped onion, curry leaves and green chillies.onion, curry leaves and green chillies for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes
  8. Fry until onions turn soft. Add in salt and sugar as per taste. Give a quick mix and switch off the stove.salt and sugar for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes

  10. Add in grated coconut and coriander leaves.grated coconut for thuppada avalakki recipe or ghee poha recipes
