Kadle usli or black chana sundal recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Kadale kaalu usli is a tasty and healthy snacks or salad prepared using cooked black chickpeas. This is a typical malnad style sweet and spicy kadle usli. You can serve it like snacks along with a cup of tea. Very tasty and please try it.
Bieng born and brought up in Malnad region of Karnataka, I have got the opportunity to taste this yummy usli or sundal so many times in my life. This type of usli is very common during the arecanut harvesting season and on deeparadhane season in temples. It is my personal favorite. The sweet and spicy taste of this usli or sundal is unique, which I can't explain through words. If you are interested in trying more malnad recipes then do check our Malenadu recipes section.
In Karnataka, if salad is prepared using raw soaked dal or lentils then it is called as kosambari. And if salad is prepared usind cooked dal or lentils then it is called as usli. I am posting 2 types of usli or sundal recipes today. The other one is sour and spicy usli, which is in practice across Bangalore-Mysore region of Karnataka. Even that usli tastes great. Apart from this there is another version of usli prepared with onions, which I will share soon.
